"Do you want me to say it won't? What do you want me to say?" Don spoke lightly he didn't want to upset her, he didn't sound angry. He knew that this was the sadness talking, she wanted to be mad at someone.
Colby saw what Kisa did and didn't say anything he just continued to comfort Devon.

"I want Anubis..." Kisa whimpered, hugging herself as she knew she'd never see him again, never see his white coat in the darkness, never hear his howls to the moon on full moonlit nights. Kisa closed her eyes, the tears streaming down her face, she could see her faithfull friend frolicing in a meadow like he used to do when he was a pup. Kisa seemed to have spaced out as she didn't react to anything. Devon gave a soft whimper as she gripped Colby's shirt tightly....

Don looked at her and said, "I do too." He reached over and grabbed her holding on.
Colby held tighter to her and winced as his as he hit his hand. "I love you, you'll be allright."

Kisa turned and hugged Don tightly, burying her face in his shirt and continued to sob over her loss. Devon looked up at Colby, giving a soft shaky sigh as she allowed her head to rest on Colby's chest, still clinging to his shirt....

Colby reached down and picked Devon up, wincing from pain. He sat down in a chair and set her in his lap. He held onto her like a father would hold a crying daughter. He laid his head on hers and stared at the wall.
Don held tight to Kisa, h e could still feel the warm tears on his own cheeks. He looked down at her and buried his head in her hair. He put an arm around her waist and just sat there in the tension.

After a while, the vet, Dr. Truesdale, came out and walked over to Don and Kisa. "Would you like to see him one last time?" He asked. Kisa automatically let go of Don and leapt to her feet, following Dr. Truesdale into one of the examining rooms where the limp body of Anubis lay. She quickly scooped him into her arms and hugged him, burying her face in his bloody white fur, wishing to God that he would come back, but she knew that it was futile as she knew that Anubis would never again be her partner along side Horus....

Don followed Kisa and when she was hugging Anubis he massaged her shoulders. He looked at the bloddy body and turned around, he faced a wall and leaned foward on it, his nose an inch away. He slammed the side of his fist againt the wall, mad at letting the two go in with guns, mad that this had happened, and mad at Doug in general.
Colby watched the two walk away and looked at Devon. He looked at her beautiful cheeks that were stained with tears. He used his thumb to wipe some of them away.

"Don...It's not your fault...It's mine for having brought Anubis in there, it's mine for having even had my gun in the first place, it's mine for having taken off his vest before he went inside..." Kisa allowed the sentence to die off as she slowly placed Anubis back on the stainless steel table and walked over to Don, putting her arms around his waist and nuzzled his back, tears trickling down her cheeks as she hugged him....

"I should have known better though. Why was I so stupid?" He reached back and put a hand on her head and stared at the wall.

"Come on, I'll ask Dr. Truesdale if we can take him so we can bury him at the Pet Cemertary." Kisa murmured, regaining her compuser as she let go of Don and gently tugged at his hand. She then let go and walked out of the room to find Dr. Truesdale....

Bree stood there quietly, just watching everything that was going on. She felt numb and guilty all at once. There were tears in her eyes, but they did not fall. They couldn't. She didn't feel right crying for someone whom died because of her. Her hand still hurt from punching Doug. Bree had never hit someone before, and she did not know the proper way to do it. And because of lacking that knowledge, she had broken her hand. But instead of telling anyone, she just held onto the pain. It was part of her punishment. Moving to sit in a chair on the other side of the waiting room, Bree hid her hands between her knees and stared at the floor. She didn't even feel she had the right to be with the others. If only she had never even been friendly to Doug when she first started at CalSci. Then they would not be here, Kisa would not have lost her dear friend, no one would be crying. Maybe.... She thought as she bit her lip. Maybe it would have been better I hadn't come to CalSci at all. Sure, guilt can do the most horrible things to your emotions and your mind. It can cause you to say or think things that may or may not be true. Feeling like she was going to be sick, Bree stood and headed for the exit of the vet hospital. Raking her good hand through her hair, she stepped out into the parking lot. But she didn't stop there. She just kept walking. She was not really sure of where she was walking to, she just had to get away. Bree was not paying any attention and was walking right out into the street, and on coming traffic. The scene of earlier replaying in her mind over and over again, along with the sounds she had heard from in the hallway. Car horns honked loudly, tires screeched to a halt, even some drivers yelled out at the 'CRAZY BITCH!' But Bree did not hear or see a thing. Reaching the other side of the street, Bree sat down on a bench, hugging herself. After a moment or two she started to rock herself slowly, drawing her knees up to her chest and hugging them there. Her right hand was exposed now, knuckles bloody. Some of the blood was Dougs, some was hers. Those same knuckles were swollen and a violent purpelish black color. But Bree did not seem to notice. She was trapped in a living nightmare with no safety in sight, no light to run to...no one to wake her up.

Don had nodded and stood, getting ready to follow Kisa. That was when he noticed Bree walking out of the place. "Um...Charlie?..." He pointed in the direction of Bree, who was out the door by now. "I think you should redirect her course of travel there little brother...." By now Don's tears had dried, or atleast he had wiped them away. Sure he had been upset about the ordeal, but he was trying to be strong for Kisa. He had wanted to be in Colby's place when Colby was beating the shit out of Doug. But Kisa had needed him to help her with Anubis, so he could not join in on the fun. On the way he had apologized to poor Horus for pulling his fur. Don had not meant to. Now all he could think about was poor Horus being all alone...with no Anubis to comfort him during storms. Perhaps after time Don could help Kisa find a new puppy. Not to replace Anubis...nothing and no one could ever replace him. But someone for Horus to play with, to make him feel better. And to help Kisa.

Kisa spoke with Dr. Truesdale and he allowed them to take Anubis's body to bury it in the Pet Cemetary. Kisa came back into the small examination room and carefully picked up her dog's blood bathed body. He didn't even look white anymore, he looked more reddish pink than anything. At least you could still make out the black that tipped his upper muzzle. Kisa carried Anubis out to the Mustang and carefully got into the backseat with the body, slowly petting the canine's blood matted fur as she waited for Don. It was pretty obvious that Kisa couldn't drive in this state of emotions....

Don followed her, and after she had gotten in the back seat with Anubis, Don got in the drivers seat. A moment oer two later, the car was started and he was pulling out, and they were on their way. Don reached over and turned the radio off, feeling it was better to go in silence. Anubis deserved a hero's respect, an agents respect, as he was being taken to his final home.

"Don...What're we going to do about Horus?" Kisa murmured, looking up as she broke the silence, carefully placing Anubis's body beside her and leaned forward, gently petting Don's yeah as if he were Anubis, for some reason he hair felt as soft as Anubis's fur once was....
